Dr. John C. Pryse, Jr., has been creating beautiful smiles for over 40 years! He is a dental specialist who received his dental degree from the University of Tennessee and his Orthodontic Certification from the University of Louisville. Dr. Pryse is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the International College of Dentists, and the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Pryse’s devotion to continuing education and involvement in advancing quality orthodontics has earned him a reputation as a trusted leader in the field. He received the TN ACE award for his continuing education hours. He has served as president of the Tennessee Association of Orthodontists, as a director from Tennessee to the Southern Association of Orthodontists. As a representative from the Southern Association to the American Association of Orthodontists Council on Insurance.
Dr. Pryse has devoted time to teaching and working with students in the field of dentistry. He was an Associate Professor in the orthodontic department at Vanderbilt University for five years. He presents lectures annually to the orthodontic students at the University of West Virginia. He presents lectures annually to the students enrolled in the Roane State hygiene program.
Dr. Pryse has stayed current by continuing his own education. He has completed a mini-residency in orofacial pain at the University of Kentucky. He completed a two-year post-graduate course studying the McLaughlin Method. Dr. McLaughlin teaches using the Dolphin McLaughlin Dental VTO software exclusively. This is an interactive software program that assists clinicians in planning precise, quantifiable movement of the dentition using clinical examination and treatment planning values.
Presently, his interest is in mastering Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and the benefits this new technology brings to his practice – especially in the area of reduced radiation to the patient while producing higher-quality diagnostic images.
Dr. Pryse and his wife, Merle, enjoy spending time with their two children and five grandchildren.
